Okay now to the good stuff!!
Where do I even begin? Cuffed was phenominal….so full of heart, emotion and the uber sexy but sweet alpha men that we love Kristy’s books for. Grant Malone is every bit of that and more. As we have all come to expect from Bromberg, she delivers not only an emotionally packed book but also touches poignantly on one of societies taboo subjects.
Grant Malone is the oldest of the three Malone brothers. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Grant is one of Sunnyvale PD’s finest officers. He loves his job and it is apparent as he is fast looking at advancement to detective.
Emmerson, Emmy, Reeves lived next door to Grant when they were young. They were BFF’s and that …. painting rocks, playing cars, playing dolls, totally inseparable. That was until the day when Grant did the most unimaginable thing by breaking a pinky swear with Emmy. A secret that would forever change their lives. Leave Grant with the terrible memory of her last word to him …. “I hate you. I never want to see you again.” Not only did the words tear him apart it also took Emmy away from Sunnyvale and him.
Now, years later, Emmy has returned to Sunnyvale. Though she has lived a fairly gypsy style life never lighting for long in one place…. it’s now time to follow her dream. The dream of owning her own skydiving business. Skydiving is her passion, not to mention the one place she finds peace, quiet, the total serenity she longs for.
Finding out that Emmy is back in Sunnyvale you know damn good and well that Grant will find her. Boy did Grant ever find her. No longer the little girl who was his BFF the last time he saw her. Emmy is now a total knock and the undeniable feelings for her are still there. Yet the pain from Grant’s betrayal years earlier is still wracks Emmy. Will she ever be able to let this go? Don’t let that fool you as she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. She’s now feisty, sassy and very much has a mind of her own!!
Not to let it slip anyone’s attention, Emmy was also very observant how Grant was no longer the little boy she remembered either. Grant has grown into a deliciously handsome man in uniform that there is no way you can miss one iota of his outstanding qualities!! wink, wink Nonetheless the one thing that Emmy begins to fight is the undeniable pull that Grant still has on her.
Seeing Emmy again made one thing clear to Grant. There was no way he was going to let his Emmy get away again. Game on to win her back! The things this man won’t do to make her his again. Like a trip shopping for tampons in the CVS. OMG, I was in tears laughing.
I love how Emmy’s best friend, Desi, and Grant are in cahoots!! The two of them scheme and set up rendezvous with an unexpecting Emmy. I might also mention that Desi is a delightfully boisterous character in the book that is the perfect best friend. I sure do hope that we see more of her in future books.
One of the other things I fiercely loved about Grant, the person, was he was not only committed to his profession but he was a person of integrity, convection and right or wrong. Whether it’s a gut feeling, kismet or some other cosmic messaging he stood by what he thinks is right … even in the face of pressure.
The push and pull of unrequited love has Emmy putting up all kind of obstacles to push Grant away. The funny thing is that Emmy has no clue how far Grant will go to get through to her. But will Grant’s persistence, patience, charm along with the enlisted help of Desi be enough to chip away at Emmy’s heart?
Can they work through the past and find a future?
I can’t wait for you to read Cuffed to fall in love with Grant and Emmy!! Cuffed is so full of heart … it’s totally heartfelt, at times heartbreaking, yet a heart-racing second chance at love.
This story is amazing and will forever be in my heart! Kristy has certainly kicked her storytelling to a new level with Cuffed.
BTW – I have to mention how much I loved the Malone family!! There is a genuine feeling of the love and warmth of a this family. Grant’s brothers are also a lot of fun too. Just what he needs to make him see the light, keep him in his place and generally kick his ass when needed! Can I say that I can’t wait for the next book in this series?
