SPEECHLESS!
My first thought upon closing my kindle finishing Rising, the fourth, final, and absolutely PHENOMENAL book of the Slay Quartet. My first feeling was complete and utter bliss!! That these two, Edward and Celia, who had such a tumultuous beginning could find any kind of future together. Laurelin has delivered, undoubtedly, the best conclusion to any series that I have read. To swoon for Edward, who was cold, arrogant, conniving, and often times just cruel…. that in itself is an extraordinary feat!! To make us love Celia was no small task either.
Throughout this series Edward always seemed to have the upper hand but I have to say in Rising we finally got to see Celia rise to claim her own power in this relationship. Seeing Celia become a mother with such beauty was a game changer for her. She glowed and grew as a mother but also loved harder. Baby Cleo was her Achilles heel and there was not anything she would not do for her. Celia is still every bit the sexy temptress she has always been. Pushing Edward at times but never wavering from her commitment or love for him.
Exasperated and angered by Celia’s unplanned pregnancy, Edward is not a happy camper! Going to gather his wife with their future shaky at best. Being back in the states Edward decides to move forward with unfinished business. Part of which is the pursuit of obtaining shares he and Celia need for control of Werner Media. What will happen when Edward and Hudson, both powerful businessmen, meet face to face? Wondering if these two be going head to head left me feeling anxious and giddy at best.
There are still big secrets between Edward and Celia. Secrets that both hold close to their chest and are determined to keep them there. Secrets begin to unravel for Celia when she finds her friend Hudson in urgent need of her help. The pinnacle of which will leave Celia in a freefall. Once again leaving Edward seething.
Yet, I think that he is beginning to realize a lot of things about Celia too. Her strength. Her intellect. Her power to take command. That she is so much more than just his wife but a power to be reckoned with. A woman who deserved nothing but the best. His love. His support. Him as her partner.
You will also see a softer side of Edward too. Daddy Edward will melt your heart, not to mention make you do a double take! ~swooning again~ One thing that is crystal clear is that their connection is soul deep. They love each other with all their hearts!! Plus, you also get more of the quick wit and banter between them…. as well as breathtaking moments of smoking hot sexy times!!
Gah, the last few chapters of this book was everything. EVERYTHING!
Crying like a baby, my heart filled with so much happiness I thought it would burst!!!!
This is most definitely Laurelin’s BEST!!!
