MARY’s REVIEW
While the End of Story was a departure from Kylie’s other books, I truly enjoyed it! It’s a sort of friends to lovers book that has somewhat of a slow burn to it. The added element of finding a divorce decree dated ten years in the future plays a significant part in the story. Overall, this is a fun read and Lars and Susie are just so freakin cute.
Susie’s aunt had left her home to her hence she was in the process of renovating it. The contractor, Lars who was set to do the work for her happened was none other the best friend of her ex, Lars. Of course this would provide an element of discomfort for the two, but they would work around it. As the demolition of walls was being done Lars found a document within them. The document was a divorce decree dated ten years in the future of Lars and Susie’s marriage. Of course it was assumed to be some kind of a joke.
The real gist of the story was how Lars and Susie got from point A to point B. While they had met each other through Susie’s ex, Lars being the exes best friend. Susie and her ex-relationship had a somewhat devastating ending. Needless to say, that upon finding out that Lars would be in charge of the renovation it presented an air of awkwardness between them, not to mention that they are total opposites. Lars is pretty laid back while Susie will put it out there just what she thinks. It took a while, but they were able to come to an understanding.
Although Susie let it be known that she wasn’t looking for a new relationship it became apparent that she and Lars developed an attraction to each other. So much so that Lars broached the topic telling Susie “it was inevitable” that they would be together. The real surprise came with Susie suggesting “sex”!! And of course you know where things will go from here. I loved how sweet Lars was with Susie and the honesty and banter between them.
But what I enjoyed the most was Lars putting her ex in his place!!
This was a fun and fairly fast read and I would definitely recommend it!!
