I devoured this book. It’s a heartfelt story of two people, one burned by love and the other consumed with tragedy. Two people trying to find their way in life but neither one looking for the one thing that would make their life complete….LOVE. Mikayla Matthews left her hometown moving in with her friend Jen across the state. Leaving behind a life that had left her jaded. Kayla had come home early from work one day to find her fiancé moving out and on. Shattered by this deception she once again believed the notion that she would never be good enough for any man to love. Resigned to this conclusion she chose to focus on her teaching career. As luck would have it she found a substitute teaching position at a nearby school and started teaching kindergarten. Alex North is a Bachelor who finds himself unexpectedly thrust into the new role of parent. After losing his sister, Mia, and her husband, Brandon, in a tragic auto accident he had been named as guardian of their five year old son, Aiden. Mia was Alex’s twin sister and Brandon had been a lifelong friend of theirs. Since assuming the role of guardian, Alex’s sole focus was to provide a secure and happy life for Aiden. Concluding that most of the women he had dated were not future “Mom” material he had pretty much given up hope of finding the woman for his and Aiden’s dream family. Introducing himself as Alex and Aiden as his nephew it’s hard for Kayla to contain her excitement of seeing Alex again when picks up his nephew. Finally, the invitation is there for her to join them for dinner and that’s where this story really takes off. This is a real contemporary romance story. The love that develops is sweet and thoughtful and kind. Alex has a kind, loving and gentle soul. His patience with Kayla is beyond anything you could imagine. This only confirms to her that she “hadn’t meet the right man.” There is so much more to the story than the relationship between Kayla and Alex. There is the dynamics of healing from wounds so deep that they have altered the soul, it’s about learning to trust again and letting go of the things that haunt you. It’s about meshing the lives of three individuals and becoming a family. Just when you think that we are getting there all hell breaks loose and outside forces begin to threaten everything that Alex and Kayla have worked for. The ending of this book was so gut wrenching that it left me in tears!

An amazing ending to truly great duet! Alex and Kayla will definitely steal your heart and I so love this series.
True North picks up right where North Star leaves off and is truly the meat of the mystery. The strain of what had happened left Alex falling apart. It left him with many questions of what was going on. Who did this and why did they do this? Who was ultimately being targeted? As more of the past history begins to surface, there are more lies of omissions that surfaced. Bringing the whole question of trust festering to the forefront. The more that surfaces the more complex the story becomes. Just when you think that you have a good idea who is doing what the tables are up ended. Soon it becomes a question of who you can trust and who you can’t. Are friends really you’re friends or are they being traitorous? The twist and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat and your stomach tied in knots as you try to resolve the mystery of who is trying so hard to tear this family apart. There will also be revelations that you never saw coming and will blow your mind. One thing that I can promise is that you will not be disappointed with the final outcome of these books…. It’s getting there will tear you apart.
About the Author:
M.E. Montgomery has been an avid reader her entire life, and after falling in love with so many characters created by other authors, a new one began to form in her head. With the support of her family, she decided to to write it.
She is the homework queen to her four school aged children who think she is a genius in math, science, history and spelling. Fortunately, her biology and elementary school teaching background help her to keep up the expert façade, at least for now.
Although born and raised in the Washington DC metro area, she has considered many places to be called home since she left to attend college in North Carolina. She is a proud Navy wife, setting up a home wherever the Navy sends her husband. When she’s not reading or writing, she loves to go camping with her family, drink wine on the deck, and be swept off to romantic getaways.
