WOW!! What an emotional, flirty, angsty, heartfelt book filled with tons of heat, chemistry and feels! While this book is billed as an Enemies to Lovers it also had a real “Second Chance” feel to me. I loved Reputation from start to finish and sure found it absolutely impossible to put down!! I’m really hoping we get to see more of Coy and Bellamy again in subsequent books.
Coy and Bells grew up as next-door neighbors. Spending lots of time together it was only kind of natural that things would cross the line between friends to more than friends. Bellamy shared all of her first with Coy, so her feelings ran really deep for him. The only problem was that he didn’t know that. When Coy got his chance to make it in Nashville he took it and he left Bells behind. Promises to her that all she had to do was call him when she needed him.
While Coy has been gone, Bells’ dad has been diagnosed with stage four cancer. Bell is consumed with concern for her dad plus she has taken it upon herself for much of his care. That and with the nanny job she has fills most of her time. You can just feel the pain and emotional toll her dad’s illness takes on her. Adding to that there is the deep down the heartache of Coy leaving her behind still pains her. It’s really hard for her to understand how he made promises to her but then forgot about her.
Coy is now the rising star of country music. Awards, women, and a career damaging scandal! So, now he is back in Savanah laying low until this “scandal” gets resolved. So now he has a lot of free time to take in the changes that have taken place at home as well as think about his future. One of which is trying to grasp the hostility Bells has for him. Needless to say, Coy isn’t going to let that go until he gets to the bottom of it. During this time, he also begins to realize that it’s Bells that brings peace to his life and that he loves her. It’s with sheer persistence that he sets out to get to the bottom of why she is so full of hate for him. With this behind them holy cow do the sparks fly. But will Bells be ready to trust her heart to Coy again?
One of the things that I really, absolutely loved about this book is how much it’s about family. The Mason boys are a hoot, you can just feel the love that is between them. Mom and Pop Mason are pretty special too!! We should all be so lucky to have a mom like Siggy!! There is a special relationship between Bellamy and her dad too. Having lost her mom at an early age her dad had made Bells a priority in his life. I loved the comradery between these two families and how they looked out for each other!!
